Erin Kelly and her volunteers come out swinging for the first year of the charity softball tournament “Play Ball for Miracles”

September 17th at Warinanco Park, Roselle/Elizabeth, NJ - A wonderful 1st year for “Play Ball for Miracles” charity Softball tournament.
This double elimination softball tournament was organized by Erin Kelly, whose family has roots in the Elizabeth Fire Department - one of the first match-ups being between the Elizabeth and Union Fire departments. This was a family affair as Erin had multiple member of her own family assisting with the festivities as well as volunteers from the community including the twelve umpires it took to call the games. The tournament was sponsored by Community Financial Services FCU (formerly Linden Federal FCU) and co-sponsored by Elizabeth NJ Firemen's FCU and ASA (Amateur Softball Assoc of NJ). Mayor Bollwage of Elizabeth even participated in the charity event by throwing out the first pitch.
Food, face painting, raffles and charity information were all available in addition to the great softball.
The double elimination tournament winning and losing went as follows: Elizabeth Fire beat Union Fire, Wealth Management beat Elizabeth Fire, All United Fence beat Bowco, Bowco defeated Union Fire, Wealth Management defeated Bowco. Finally, Wealth Management played All United Fence with All United Fence (Vladimir Diaz – Rep.) winning with an undefeated record!
Shockwave I and Shockwave II played 5 games in the co-ed div. Shockwave II won.
Thanks to Erin Kelly who did a wonderful job organizing this event as well as all the generous volunteers who gave their time to the event. Also, thank you to the extremely generous teams who donated their funds and athleticism to this great cause.
